LEGAL AID
The Legal Aid Office provides legal services including family law, consumer law, government
benefit programs, housing, and debtor/creditor issues. Typical cases include guardianships,
adoptions, and child advocacy. The office does not handle criminal, workers’ compensation,
divorces, or personal injury cases. Operating with staff and a group of dedicated
volunteer attorneys and law students, the Legal Aid Office provides services to those residents
of Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties who qualify based on income.
